What electrolysis is
A probe finer than the hair itself is slid into the follicle through the opening the hair already uses. A brief, controlled current disables the root; the hair is then lifted out without resistance — it is not plucked. The method was first described in 1875 and the principle has not changed; what has changed is how precisely the current is dosed. Because it works on one follicle at a time, electrolysis is precise where laser is blunt: on the face, where you rarely want everything gone but want the hairs that show gone while the shape of the brow, the sideburn line and the jaw stay as they are. And because it does not depend on pigment, it removes the hairs laser cannot target at all.
Who it is for
- The face — chin, jawline, upper lip, cheeks, sideburns, neck, hairline, between and under the brows.
- Grey, white, blonde and red hair anywhere — laser needs dark pigment; electrolysis does not.
- What laser left behind — after a course of laser the dark hair thins out and the light hair remains, more visible than before. Electrolysis finishes the job.
- Individual hairs — a few strong hairs on the chin, a stray one on the areola, the ones that keep coming back.
- Men — most often between the brows, the cheekbones and the ears.

What a visit looks like
- Consultation, free. Come with some grown-out hair. The region, the hair type, the skin and what you have used before are looked at under a magnifying lamp, and you get a realistic plan — not a package.
- The work. Sessions are usually booked for 15 to 60 minutes depending on the region. Sensitive regions are done slower, at lower intensity, with breaks.
- Your card. The minutes of every visit and how your skin reacted are written down, so the next visit and the aftercare are adjusted to you.
- In series. Hairs grow in cycles, so the process runs over months: each visit treats the hairs that have grown since the last one.
Hygiene
The probe is single-use — new for every client. Work is done in disposable gloves and a mask, on a couch covered with a fresh film for each client; hands are disinfected on arrival and surfaces are wiped down between clients. Electrolysis is not done on inflamed or broken skin, and not in the first three months of pregnancy — later, it is your decision together with the doctor following your pregnancy. If the growth of facial hair has changed suddenly, the salon will send you to an endocrinologist first: the doctor treats the cause, the salon treats the hair.
Afterwards
Redness and small dots where hairs were removed are normal and settle within a day or two. On the day: no rubbing, no make-up on the area, no sauna, pool or heavy sweating. If a tiny crust forms, leave it. Between visits: do not tweeze or wax — that undoes the work; shaving is fine. Redness that lasts beyond two days, swelling, or pain that increases is not expected — call.
Price
Electrolysis is charged per minute of work: 2 € / 240 RSD for 1 minut. There are no packages and no fixed price “for the chin” — two people with the same region can have a completely different number of hairs. Coming from abroad or another city
Clients travel to electrolysis — from across Serbia and from neighbouring countries — because few salons do it. If you are in Belgrade for a limited time, call before your trip: the salon sets aside a longer block, or several sessions during one stay, and tells you honestly what fits in the time you have. Questions people ask
Is electrolysis really permanent?
Electrolysis treats each hair inside its follicle with a fine probe and a controlled current so that the treated follicle stops producing hair. It is the method the US FDA recognises for permanent removal of treated hair; laser, by contrast, is described as long-term hair reduction. A new hair can still appear from a different follicle, especially when there is a hormonal cause.
Does it work on grey, white or blonde hair?
Yes. Electrolysis does not rely on pigment, which is why it is the method for the hairs laser cannot see — grey, white, blonde and reddish hair, and the fine hairs left on the face after a course of laser.
How much does electrolysis cost in Belgrade?
Salon M charges per minute of work, not per area or package; the current rate is on the price list. The consultation and the assessment are free, and the minutes of every visit are recorded in your card.
How many sessions will I need?
Nobody can say honestly in advance. Hairs grow in cycles, so only part of them is visible at any one time; the work is done in a series of visits over months. The number depends on the area, density, hair type and how the hair was removed before (tweezing and waxing change the follicle).
Does it hurt?
You feel it — a short, warm prick per hair, most on the upper lip and chin where the skin is thin. The intensity is adjusted as you go and breaks are taken when needed. Nobody promises a painless treatment.
Do I need to speak Serbian?
No. Call the salon and ask for a consultation; bring some grown-out hair (do not tweeze or wax before the visit — shaving a few days earlier is fine) and say what you have tried so far.
